Rocky Mountain Health Care buys former Space Foundation building in Colorado Springs - Colorado Springs Business Journal

The former Space Foundation at 310 S. 14th St. on the west sideof Colorado Springs, has a new owner.

Rocky Mountain Health Care Services closed on the building Mondayfor $850,000, said President and CEO Laurie Tebo. The group plans tomove its administrative offices to the building. The health carenonprofit, which specializes in traumatic brain injury and care forthe elderly, now has nine buildings.

'We are excited to be expanding our services,' she said. 'And weare excited to be on the west side.'

The group started in 1976 as part of Catholic Community Servicesand became a separate nonprofit agency in 1978.

The new location also gives Rocky Mountain Health Care Services abigger parking lot. The group uses buses to transport elderlypatients from its residential services, that are also close by.

'We'll be able to park our buses there, and it's convenient toother locations,' she said. 'It was a good move, we think.'

The Space Foundation moved from the building in June to occupylarger headquarters just off the high-tech Garden of the Godscorridor.

The foundation has moved into the building and is planning futurerenovations - including a visitors' area that will house displays ofthe former space shuttle program and a history of the nation's spaceindustry.

The funds from the sale of the building will be used for ongoingrenovations, according to Space Foundation officials.
